This last year was a very big year for marijuana. Alaska, Oregon, and Washington D.C. voted to legalize marijuana. Florida nearly passed a medical marijuana initiative. New York City and Philadelphia decriminalized marijuana. Colorado and Washington started rolling out legal recreational marijuana sales. The list goes on and on.
Below is a map showing what were the most searched Google words/terms by state in 2014 (via Business Insider). As you can see, the top search in Alaska was ‘legalize marijuana’ and Colorado was ‘marijuana.’ I have to say, I’m disappointed in my home state of Oregon. I would have thought marijuana would have been the top term here as well, but apparently it was ‘Ukraine’ for reasons unknown to me:
