The Secret of Silicone: Introducing the Unbreakable Water Pipe

There really is no end to the creativity of those who wish to find new and more effective ways to smoke. From apples to corn cob pipes to honey bears, to ceramic to glass and now… silicone pipe. If you haven’t met one yet, let me introduce you to your new favorite camping pipe.

Silicone Pipe

Now let’s be clear: a silicone pipe is not just for camping. Being virtually unbreakable, they are perfect for festivals, around the pool, boating or kayaking, hiking expeditions, you name it. They are also the perfect pipe to whip out at home when your clumsy friends come over. “Sorry, buddy. You’re going to have to use the silicone pipe. No glass for you this time, my friend.”

As with any type of pipe, there are more than one style to choose from. There are your basic straight tube bongs, mini bongs that can be used with dry herb or as a dab rig, and even hand pipes, some of which have a handy silicone cap on them that can be used to store a fresh or partly smoked bowl. My favorite, though, is the classic straight bong that comes in two parts.

Here’s a breakdown of a silicone pipe you can break down: The lower part is made up of the base, the joint for the stem, and a short neck. This lower piece can actually be used as a stand-alone pipe, but it works much better if you add the upper section. The upper section is not only an extension of the neck, it also has a built-in ice catch.

There is a “floor” to this upper section that has seven ⅛” diameter holes for both diffusion and catching ice. Being able to break the pipe into two sections definitely makes it much easier to clean, not to mention easier to pack and carry with you. Using BPA free, non-toxic, food grade silicone, these pipes smoke as well as glass pipes of the same design. You won’t even notice the difference. Until you drop it, of course.

Now check this out: You have two options for the downstem and bowl. Around the house, you may choose to use the glass diffused downstem and glass bowl, the only two parts of this pipe that could break when dropped. No problem, especially if you have extras around. And of course, replacing a stem and/or bowl is much cheaper than replacing a whole pipe.

The other option, though, is the full silicone downstem and the metal bowl, and this is where the silicone pipe becomes truly unbreakable.  This is your ultimate outdoor pipe. Easily thrown into a backpack without any fear of breaking the pipe, the stem or the bowl.

And guess what? They glow in the dark! This is just another fun way to use these cool new pipes. Speaking of fun, silicone isn’t just for pipes. There are also silicone concentrate containers, hygienic mouthpieces, and even rolling trays. But I get it, the most exciting things are the pipes.

Now what about the price? Almost as exciting as the pipe itself is how cost effective these bongs and dab rigs are. You’re getting the quality of a pipe that is normally two or three times more expensive, along with what can only be described as priceless versatility.
