Denver: Volunteers Give Away Free Marijuana To The Homeless On Christmas Eve

cannabis can denverFree marijuana giveaways are becoming more and more popular, and every time I hear of one it warms my heart. I’m fully supportive of marijuana sales for profit, but when people give marijuana away for no consideration, there’s just something about it that I love. That’s especially true when the marijuana is being given to members of society that can least afford it and likely need it more than the average person.

I always say that the marijuana industry has the ability to do enormous things, good things, for society. It’s no secret that the marijuana industry is growing at a rapid pace, and is bringing in staggering sums of profits. By harnessing the industry’s profit potential and putting some of those dollars towards some worthwhile efforts, the marijuana industry can literally help change the world for the better on a level never seen before.

There are people in Denver that know what I’m talking about. There’s an organization called ‘Cannabis Can’ that recently gave away free joints to homeless people in Denver. It’s an amazing story. Per WXYZ:

Nick Dicenzo, the founder of Cannabis Can and the one responsible for handing out the free weed, said they’re trying to raise awareness about homelessness and encourage people to donate to their cause.

The cause? To raise money to buy several RV’s and provide restrooms and showers for those in need. Dicenzo said their goal is to use weed for good and to bring people together to make a difference.

“‘Cannabis can make a difference,’ is kind of what we’re standing for,” said Dicenzo.

“What do you say to people who don’t agree with what you’re doing?” asked Denver7 Reporter Jennifer Kovaleski.

“Merry Christmas, Happy Cannamas – would you like some rolling papers for tobacco?” replied Dicenzo.

I have never been homeless (close a few times), but I know a lot of people that have been at one point or another in their lives. They will all attest that the hardest thing about digging out of homelessness is the lack of place to shower and clean up. It’s very difficult to find a job and nail and interview when you and your clothes aren’t clean. I hope that Mr. Dicenzo gets his RVs, and continues to do amazing, compassionate things. Please consider donating to the organization’s GoFundMe campaign.
