ReformCA today retained Progressive Campaigns, Inc. to gather signatures for its 2016 ballot initiative to legalize cannabis in California. The initiative will be filed with the Attorney General’s office in the coming weeks.

ReformCA is a project of the Coalition for Cannabis Policy Reform (CCPR), a 501(c)4 based in California.

For the past two years, ReformCA has worked to organize and build consensus across the state to lay the groundwork for a cannabis legalization initiative. The results of this effort include:

An email list with 70,000 grassroots supporters and donors in California and 135,000 nationwide;
Fifteen in-person “Stakeholder Roundtables” taking place from San Diego to Redding during which attendees could weigh in on important issues;
Consultation with a broad range of state and national organizations, experts and policy makers;
Extensive public opinion research; and
A formidable political team made up of Joe Trippi & Associates, Jim Gonzalez & Associates, Celinda Lake Research, Progressive Campaigns, Inc., and Joe Rogoway Law Group.

As a result of this process, ReformCA is prepared to introduce its consensus ballot initiative language to the public and file with the Attorney General’s office after final consultation with environmental, labor, Latino, and women’s groups.
