legalize marijuana cannabis safe safetyFlorida voters will decide in November if they want medical cannabis to come to the Sunshine State. Recent polls have support at 88% for the medical cannabis initiative, which is encouraging for a victory on Election Day. The campaign battle in Florida has been fierce, with both sides raising millions of dollars in campaign contributions. It appears that not only is there support for medical cannabis in Florida, but also support for cannabis legalization for all adults over 21.

Per News Max:

In Florida, support for recreational pot is not as fervent as medical marijuana, but it’s still strong: 55 percent to 41 percent. Men are much higher on the idea (61 percent to 36 percent) while women are more evenly split, 49 percent to 45 percent.

Age is a major contributing factor when it comes to support for lighting up for purely recreational purposes. Seventy-two percent of voters 18 to 29 favor it, while 59 percent of voters over 65 oppose it.

Democrats and independents are much mellower about the idea with 64 percent and 55 percent support the idea, respectively. Republicans oppose it by a 56 percent to 41 percent margin.

Support for cannabis legalization is growing all over the nation. Poll after poll is showing majority support for cannabis legalization in many states. With endorsements from major media outlets like the New York Times, I expect support to continue to grow. This is bad news for cannabis opponents, but it’s good news for cannabis law reform supporters and those that desire sane, sensible public policies.
