Learn How To Help Bring Much Needed Marijuana Reform To The Show-Me State
The first state Cannabis Law Reform Conference cosponsored by the Missouri Affiliate of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), Show-Me Cannabis Regulation (SMCR), and the National Cannabis Coalition will take place at the Arts and Sciences Auditorium at the University of Missouri in Columbia next Saturday, November 3rd. The event will feature outstanding state and national speakers as well as an opportunity to network with our fellow activists from throughout the state. You can RSVP on the Facebook page here.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Ethan Nadelmann, the Executive Director of the Drug Policy Alliance. Dr. Nadelmann is a former professor of political science at Princeton University and an attorney. He is widely regarded as among the most articulate and effective speakers on the need to repeal cannabis prohibition in the world.
In addition, Mr. Radley Balko, formerly a senior editor at Reason Magazine and currently with The Huffington Post, is a nationally recognized expert on the abuses of police power which often accompany efforts to enforce cannabis prohibition. He has authored dozens of articles on this topic and is one of the most widely-read online writers on issues relating to civil liberties and drug prohibition.
Also appearing at the conference will be the leaders of the cannabis law reform movement from across the state, including board members of SMCR, John Payne, Amber Langston, Maranda Reynolds and Missouri NORML Coordinator and SMCR Board Chair, Dan Viets.
The conference will be followed by a fundraising dinner and auction at The Grand Cru, one of Columbia's finest restaurants, where you can speak one-on-one with some of the leading voices in the fight against prohibition. Entry to the Grand Cru event is $25 at the door for adults and $15 for students, but you can order tickets here at a $5 discount. Price of entry does not include dinner, but participants will be able to order off the menu. If you cannot attend the dinner, but would still like to make a donation, you can do so here!
