“The ballots for Measure 91 weren’t even cast before cities and counties began subverting the will of the people,” said Portland NORML Executive Director Russ Belville, “by passing local marijuana taxes clearly forbidden by Measure 91.  Portland NORML intends to fight for the implementation of Measure 91 as written and voted on by 71 percent of Portland voters.  Our monthly membership meetings will help educate and inform city leaders, state lawmakers, and the public on the truth about cannabis and the lessons learned from legalization in Colorado and Washington.”

In addition to Anthony Johnson, Portland NORML welcomes Shaun McAlister from Arlington, Texas, who is the Executive Director of Dallas / Ft. Worth NORML, one of the most successful NORML chapters in the country.  Mr. McAlister will offer his perspective on the importance of Oregon getting legalization done right to help influence less-progressive states as they seek marijuana law reforms.
