Brad Pitt Agrees With Show-Me Cannabis Regulation That Marijuana Prohibition Has Failed

In case you haven’t heard, Springfield, Missouri native and University of Missouri alumnus Brad Pitt is the Co-Executive Producer of the new movie The House I Live In – a documentary delving into the Nixon Administration and the origin of what Nixon coined as “the war on drugs.”
And it sounds like Brad Pitt agrees with Show-Me Cannabis Regulation on a number of points. Pitt agrees that there has been a muzzle on the conversation about drug policy, saying, “it’s been this taboo subject forever” to Sasha Bronner of the Huffington Post. On top of that, SMCR acknowledges the inequality of the distribution of justice, where poor and minority communities take the burden of suffering from our policies. Likewise, SMCR believes that we must fully legalize and regulate marijuana in order to completely take it out of the criminal market. According to Pitt, “The only way to end the war on drugs is to take the profit out of it.”
I am so glad to see one of our state’s favorite sons stand up and speak to the injustice of our current policies. Let’s just hope that his hometown Springfield City Council members were listening…
Show-Me Cannabis Regulation Trivia Night in Saint Louis Tomorrow! Individual Players Welcome!
SMCR will be holding its first trivia night fundraiser tomorrow (Saturday, 10/20) at Bar 101 Soulard, located at 1724 South Broadway, Saint Louis, MO 63104. Doors open at 6:00 P.M. and trivia starts at 7:00 P.M. You can pay for a table of up to eight players for $200, and due to popular demand, individuals or groups of less than eight can pay $25 per person at the door. Both prices include ten rounds of trivia, an auction featuring Cardinals’ memorabilia autographed by Carlos Beltran, Yadier Molina, and David Freese, and unlimited beer and soft drinks!
We hope to launch another statewide campaign to legalize and regulate cannabis like alcohol in the state of Missouri soon, but that won’t happen without successful grassroots fundraising.
