This Friday marks the 40th anniversary of Richard Nixon’s declaration of a war on drugs and tomorrow, Students for Sensible Drug Policy is organizing a candlelight vigil as part of a nationwide day of action aimed at highlighting the impact that this war has had on all communities around the world. Please join us for this event:
- June 16, 2011
- Civic Center Plaza, San Francisco, CA (MAP)
- 8:30 PM – 10:00 PM
- Facebook Event
- Short speeches from members of Students for Sensible Drug Policy, the Drug Policy Alliance, and Law Enforcement Against Prohibition will be given. Candles, matches and drip protectors will be provided.
In just 40 years, the United States has spent more than $1 Trillion waging this failed war on drugs. Every year, more than $10 Billion is spent just enforcing marijuana laws. Our country now leads the world in incarceration rates.
We need you to join us on June 16 to tell America that 40 years of drug war failure is enough.
Can’t make the vigil? That’s OK! Support SSDP by making a donation today.
