Next Friday, July 5, Show-Me Cannabis supporters Heath Poland and Christopher Butcher will be hosting a barbecue and block party fundraiser at 1411 S. Hedges Avenue in Independence 64502. Christopher will prepare competition level barbecue roast and pulled pork smoked over three days. The barbecue will be available for a suggested donation of $6.00 a plate. The event starts at 3:00 P.M. with games beginning at 4:00 and an auction at 4:20. You can find the Facebook event page here. Proceeds will be contributed to buying radio advertisements in Kansas City. So if you are in the KC area, support the cause over the holiday and celebrate our independence in Independence!
In addition to the town hall meeting scheduled for Joplin on Tuesday, August 27 that I announced last week, we have scheduled a meeting in Rolla for Thursday, August 8. That meeting will take place at the Rolla Public Library (900 N. Pine Street, 65401) from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30.
I am also pleased to announce that there are now advance tickets available for The Resin Ball. The benefit concert will feature Ryan Dillaha and the Miracle Men, Peck of Dirt, Whiskey War Mountain Rebellion, and Brown Bottle Fever all playing at the Off Broadway in Saint Louis (3509 Lemp Avenue, 63118). The event will take place Saturday, July 27 with doors opening at 8:00 P.M. and bands starting at 8:30. You can purchase tickets for $8 if you are 21 years of age or older or $11 if you are between the ages of 18 and 21.
All of these events are being primarily organized by volunteers, and you can do the same things in your community! If you want to help plan a fundraising or educational event (or both!) where you live, email me, and we can work together to make it happen.
