The last time I wrote to you, I asked you to help the campaign collect 10,000 signatures in a week’s time. I’m proud to announce that we reached that goal, with over 11,000 signatures turned in to the campaign in a single week! That’s an extremely impressive figure, and it has enabled us to continue paying for valid signatures for the time being. Nonetheless, we have no time to rest on our laurels because our deadline is approaching fast, and we still need over 100,000 signatures.

That’s why we are setting the bar even higher this time. In order to have a realistic expectation of making the ballot, we need another 30,000 signatures by the end of March. The number may seem daunting, but it can be reached. However, we will need every single one of our 1,400 volunteers to gather as many signatures as possible and turn them in to the campaign at the end of the week. Cannabis regulation will not appear on the 2012 ballot if you do not gather the signatures to put it there. It’s as simple as that.

If you’re looking for events where you can gather signatures, check out our events calendar, and remember that the April municipal elections will be held across the state next Tuesday. It will be the best single opportunity to find registered voters before the end of the campaign. You also don’t need a special occasion to gather signatures. There are always registered voters at public places such as public libraries and parks, courthouses, post offices, and Department of Motor Vehicle offices, all of which you can petition outside of any time. And don’t forget to ask your family and friends! Regardless of where you go, you must do it now, because it will soon be too late.
