To mark this historic occasion, U.S. Army Veteran and former Texas resident Roger B. Martin, Founder and Executive Director of Grow for Vets USA, will lead a 90-minute presentation at The Southwest Cannabis Conference & Expo (SWCC Expo) from 2:00 – 3:30 PM, on Sunday, February 28, 2016. The event is being held at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

The presentation is entitled “Why Are We Killing More Than 50 Veterans A Day?” According to Martin, “Veterans from all across the country are turning to cannabis as a safe alternative to the deadly drug cocktails that are killing more than 50 Vets a day. Despite the fact that thousands of brave men and women have told me personally that cannabis is the only thing that has ever helped them with PTSD, for example, the VA continues to dole out dangerous prescription drugs to Veterans like candy to children on Halloween. Many Veterans are taking twenty, or more, different prescription drugs a day.”

Martin notes that, “More American heroes will die this year from prescription drug overdose and suicide than have died in combat since September 11, 2001. Over one million Veterans are presently at risk of being added to the rapidly growing list of the more than 18,000 who are needlessly dying every year. I believe that America’s bravest deserve better. They have more than earned the right to have a safe alternative to these deadly drugs.”

As part of Martin’s presentation, the audience will hear from Veterans, as well as from several renowned medical and legal experts including Heather Manus RN, attorney Ken Sobel, and researcher Sue Sisley M.D.

While cannabis is not yet legal in Texas, Martin added that, “As residents of the most patriotic state in the country, Texans strongly support the legal reforms necessary to ensure that its heroes and their families have a safe alternative to the dangerous prescription drugs that are tearing apart thousands of Texas families. Grow for Vets USA is honored to have been chosen by Rory Mendoza, organizer of SWCC Expo, to be the voice for Veterans at this first of its kind event in the Lone Star State.”

SWCC Expo will showcase the industry’s most innovative products, along with scheduled seminars and presentations by industry business leaders and experts. The event will offer an electric environment where industry reformers, entrepreneurs, investors, and attendees can meet, network, and learn.

In addition to offering attendees the opportunity to learn from scores of cannabis industry experts, Mr. Montel Williams, internationally recognized award winning media personality, decorated former naval officer, inspirational speaker, author, entrepreneur and advocate for patients worldwide, will be the keynote speaker at the event.

SWCC Expo is offering Veterans and their families discounted tickets for this event online at: https://swccexpo.com/#register. Use discount code: vet420.

In appreciation of the sacrifices that Veterans and their families have made on behalf of all Americans, SWCC Expo will be making a significant financial contribution to Grow for Vets USA in order to assist the organization with its lifesaving mission.
