Application Window Opens For Marijuana Investor Pitch Event

marijuana investorIt seems like almost everyone I know or meet has a marijuana business idea. And almost all of them are looking for a funder. Getting someone to invest in your marijuana product or service idea is not easy. It takes a lot of timing, and being at the right place at the right time. It also takes a thought-out, well polished pitch. You can have the best idea in the world, but if you aren’t able to convey to an investor why that is, you might as well have no idea at all.

There was a time when I was looking for an investor. I had no idea how to go about it. I wished that there was a 101 class or something that broke it all down. At the time I was looking for an investor, nothing like that existed in the marijuana world. But that has changed. At the 2015 Spring Marijuana Business Conference and Expo in Chicago, hosted by Marijuana Business Daily, there will be a mock investor pitch session that people can gain insight from. Per Marijuana Business Daily:

Cannabis entrepreneurs can now submit applications to take part in a mock investor pitch session at the Spring Marijuana Business Conference and Expo to be held in Chicago next month.

The deadline for applications to participate in the Marijuana Business Pitch Slam is April 10. The session will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on May 20 at the Chicago Hilton.

The five companies selected to present will deliver a short investment pitch in front of a live audience of industry professionals and a panel of experienced investors. The panel will then critique the presentations to provide insight into what investors look for when evaluating a pitch, and will select a winner for the “Best Pitch” award.

A similar session featuring live presentations by companies seeking funds was among the most popular educational content sessions at the event’s sister conference held in Las Vegas last fall. GreenBroz Inc., a manufacturer of marijuana processing equipment, won that slam.

I plan on attending the Chicago event, and you better believe I’m going to be in the audience to watch the pitches. I can’t wait to hear what the panel has to say about each pitch, and the tips they provide for pitches in general. If you haven’t bought a ticket to the event yet, you should truly consider it. The networking opportunities for the event will be second to none, as this will be the biggest marijuana industry event of all time. Whether you are already in the industry and want to raise your skill level, or are wanting to get into the industry, this is going to be a golden opportunity.
