Citizens for Patient Rights (www.citizens4patientsrights.org), in association with the Patient Care Association (www.pcaca.org), is pleased to announce that at 2:30pm on Wednesday, May 30th, 2012 we submitted our signature petition to allow and regulate medical marijuana dispensaries in Del Mar to the Del Mar City Clerk!

In total, we submitted over 961 signatures in favor of our petition to allow and regulate medical marijuana dispensaries in Del Mar signatures. 303 valid signatures are necessary in order to qualify an initiative for the November ballot in the City of Del Mar.

We found wide public support for our initiative proposal which will give the public the option of common sense, fair regulation of medical marijuana that satisfies the needs of the patients and caregivers in Del Mar, as shown by the over 900 signatures collected since the petition began circulating less than six weeks ago.

The submitted petitions must now be certified by the Del Mar City Clerk. The San Diego County Registrar of Voters will then have 30 days in which to validate the petition signatures. After the signatures are validated, the Del Mar City Council will then vote on whether to directly pass the initiative proposal or place the measure on the November ballot.
