Our team at The Weed Blog cannot say enough about how wonderful we think the Cannabis Cultural Association is, so when this note from them and their colleagues at Hiller, PC hit our inbox today, we wanted to share it with all of you. This is a big week for the lawsuit they have been working on against the federal government regarding medical cannabis, and we wish them all the best in the moments leading up to the hearing where they will give their oral statements to defeat the government’s motion to dismiss on Valentine’s Day (this Wednesday), which you can learn more about here.
This year, important changes are coming to the cannabis legalization movement: California launched its full adult use program, Massachusetts is set to launch their adult use later this year, and Vermont recently passed a home grow bill through its state legislature (a first!).
We have much to be excited about this year, however, 2018 also brings major concerns, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinding many Obama-era cannabis protections. This Valentine’s day, February 14th, the CCA, ex-pro football player Marvin Washington and 12yr old medical marijuana patient and activistAlexis Bortellamong other plaintiffs have a court date with the Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the DEA. We will be giving our oral statements to defeat the government’s motion to dismiss, and we need your support! We need to pack the courtroom, and rally outside of it! We need to show the current local, state and Federal administrations that the unconstitutional prohibition of cannabis needs to end. Now more than ever, we need to work together to stand strong as a community, push back these repressive policies and bring the fight to the courtroom!
