Federal agents on Monday morning raided several properties owned by Richard Lee, the leader of the marijuana legalization movement in California, sources tell the Bay Citizen. Agents also detained Lee at his home.

Internal Revenue Service and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents executed search warrants at Oaksterdam University, which describes itself as “America’s first cannabis college.”

Agents also raided his home and the site of his former medical marijuana dispensary, Coffee Shop Blue Sky, which had operating as an underground pot club.

Sources tell The Bay Citizen that the agents also detained four marijuana nursery workers.

Spokespeople for the IRS and the DEA would not provide any details on on Monday’s raids, explaining that the search warrants are under seal.

Arlette Lee, a spokeswoman for the IRS, said that the U.S. Marshals Service is also involved in the operation.
