With less than two months before election day in November, a new WBUR/MassINC poll has found that Massachusetts voters are prepared to pass Question 4 to legalize cannabis.
According to the poll, 50% of voters in the state plan to vote “Yes” on Question 4, with 45% planning to vote “No”. Just 5% remain undecided.
According to the poll, 80% of voters feel that even if they don’t support legalizing cannabis, they don’t believe that consuming it is “morally wrong”. Just 14% do, with 6% undecided.
If passed into law this November, Question 4 would legalize the possession of up to an ounce of cannabis (up to 10 ounces in a private resident), and the personal cultivation of up to six cannabis plants, for those 21 and older. Similar to legalization initiatives passed in Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Alaska over the past few years, Question 4 would establish a system of state-licensed cannabis retail outlets, which will be supplied by licensed cultivation centers.
Cannabis-infused products such as edibles and tinctures will also be sold at the above-mentioned retail outlets.
Recently we reported that the Yes on 4 campaign has raised around $2.4 million in support of their effort, nearly seven times more than the amount raised by the Campaign for a Safe and Healthy Massachusetts, the primary group opposing the initiative.
