The fifth Cannabis Science Conference will open this week in Portland.

The Cannabis Science Conference is about to get underway in Portland, Oregon with its usual list of researchers, physicians, cultivators and advocates, including Olivia Newton-John and her husband Amazon John Easterling as Keynote Speakers, among many others.

This year’s conference, the fifth since its launch in October 2016 in Portland, covers a wide selection of topics, such as genomics, informatics, medical cannabis, testing and hemp science that brings together a diverse group of people within the cannabis industry.

The CSC is being held from Sept. 4-6, 2019.

“Our conference pulls together cannabis industry experts, instrument manufacturers, testing labs, research scientists, medical practitioners, policy makers and interested novices,” according to the CSC’s website. “Our annual event is aimed at improving cannabis science.”

Back in Portland

Earlier this year, the CSC had its East Coast debut in Baltimore, Maryland to great success, but now it is back in its original home: Portland, Oregon.

“We started this conference in Portland and we are grateful for the amazing support that the Portland community has provided us. In many ways, Portland is a world-leader in advancing cannabis science,” said Joshua Crossney, CEO & Founder of CSC Events, LLC.

What’s happening?

The opening CSC event is the Canna Boot Camp, a hands-on workshop, which will help educate attendees on many aspects of cannabis cultivation, processing, extractions and analytical testing.

Other CSC sessions, scheduled for Sept. 5-6, will cover three tracks: medical, analytical and cultivation.

Some of the analytical and science speakers include such cannabis researchers as Dr. Bonni Goldstein, researcher, author and lecturer; Dr. Ethan Russo, Dr. Markus Roggen of Complex Biotech Discoveries, and Dr. Dustin Sulak, among many others.

Sports Panel

Medical cannabis researcher, Dr. Sue Sisley, who recently completed the first clinical trial of marijuana to treat Veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), will moderate a panel called Athletes for Cannabis Panel. Speakers on the panel include professional athletes Cliff Robinson (former NBA), Rylie Cote (former NHL), Anna Symonds (professional female rugby player) and Marvin Washington (former NFL).

The conference, being held at the Oregon Conference Center, has over 200 sponsors and exhibitors.

Organizers say the event is expected to bring in at least 3,500 global attendees from more than 25 countries, over 100 presentations and more than 160 vendors from around the world.
