The day after the historic 2012 election I was very fortunate to be invited to the first ever National Marijuana Business Conference. It was literally one of the best experiences in my entire life. The event was put on by Marijuana Business Daily, and was attended by the who’s who of the marijuana world. I met Adam Eidinger there and he told me that he was trying to legalize marijuana in Washington D.C., which he did. I got to learn from industry leaders who spoke such as Steve DeAngelo and Troy Dayton. I was joined at the event by Anthony Johnson and Travis Maurer, the two men behind Oregon’s successful legalization campaign two years later. Ed Rosenthal gave me some of the best hash I have ever smoked the night before the event kicked off. It was amazing.
I look back at that event with very fond memories. I made so many friends and met so many industry contacts at that event that have helped me beyond measure since that time. It’s very, very rare to get that much industry and activism talent in one place. So it’s with great pleasure that I announce that I plan on attending the Marijuana Business Daily’s Spring 2015 Marijuana Business Conference and Expo in Chicago in May. I’m told that this is going to be the biggest marijuana industry event in American history, even bigger than their conference last November in Las Vegas. I don’t attend events that often (only 2 in the last two years) anymore, but this one is so good I couldn’t pass it up.
It will be a prime setting too. Illinois is trying to launch their medical marijuana industry, and I’m very curious to talk to people on the ground there. The event has an all-star lineup of speakers, many of which I look up to a lot (even beyond the marijuana industry). Some of the speakers include:
Steve Levitt – author of Freakonomics
Adam Bierman – founder of MedMen
Charles Cain – former Vice President of Starbucks
Troy Dayton – the ArcView Group
Andrew DeAngelo – Harborside Health Center
Len Goodman – founder of New MexiCann Natural Medicine
Ed Rosenthal – prolific author and grower
And many, many more world class speakers. Click here for a full list of speakers. The event is expected to have over 2,000 people in attendance, and have over 160 exhibitors. For a full list of exhibitors, click this link here. Below are some quotes from past attendees:
“Best event I have ever attended within the industry.” – Tripp Keber, Managing Director, Dixie Elixers
“Once again the Marijuana Business Daily produces a superior product. This was the most professional, informative and interactive event that I have attended. There were great networking opportunities and excellent speaker panels.” – Kris Morwood, Director, Impact Maven Mentors
“Thanks to this conference our funding outlook is very bright. We were impressed with the conference planning, the ability to network with others either already in the industry or entering and find potential investors for our company. Can’t wait for the next one.” – Patricia Noonan, Mary Jane Farms
“A breakout event for the industry. The success can be measured by the large number of exhibitors and attendees or the wealth of knowledge shared in the presentations, but the power of the event was the connections that were made between those in all aspects of our industry, including investors and entrepreneurs. What a fantastic time.” – Alan Brochstein, Founder, 420 Investor
If you are able to make it, I promise that you will not be disappointed. If you are serious about succeeding in the growing marijuana industry, this event is a must.
