Maryland’s Medical Marijuana Law Is Broken! Help Fix It!
December 1st AIDS March & Maryland ASA Conference Call
Join us as we March For AIDS Awareness with the Maryland Chapter of Americans For Safe Access. We are going to team with the World’s AIDS Day March on December 1st at 12 noon in Annapolis Maryland. Its short notice, but we can create a banner and walk behind it to build solidarity in the movement. Hopefully, we can spread the message to Maryland AIDS Activists that marijuana is a legitimate medication that helps their community.

Maryland ASA Conference Call
After the March, a Maryland ASA Conference call will be held at 7:00-8:00pm. The Conference Call number is 212-812-0859 Code #1618568
Local activists are welcome to participate in the agenda for this call. Topics of discussion revolve around public meetings and planning a Lobby Day in Annapolis to reform and improve the 2003 Gary Putnam Compassionate Use Act Of Maryland.
We need activists to send Kristen Ford suggestions for what Monday would work as our collective lobby day. We need your help so everyone can to plan a trip together to Annapolis during the 2011 legislative session (January-March).
Many people will have to take off work to make this happen, but seeing that vacation time resets the 1st of the year, there should be plenty of days! It is important to get as many people up and out to Annapolis talking to our elected officials as possible.

Before We Go! We are going to create:
1. Personal cultivation Fact sheets
2. Medical Marijuana vs. Gang Violence Fact Sheets
Maryland ASA met with Senator Raskin’s Chief of Staff last Thursday, and the meeting went well. They are not sure what they intend to do because a lot depends on the house. We requested that they provide us with as realistic of a picture as possible with their intentions moving forward as soon as possible, so we know where to direct our efforts. We did express displeasure with the lack of personal cultivation and the landlord provision in last year’s HB712/SB627. They will send out information as they have it, and let’s cross our fingers that it will be good news!
It is important to understand that IF THE PATIENT COMMUNITY IS NOT INVOLVED IN MAKING THESE LAWS, THE LEGISLATORS WILL NOT DO IT FOR US, AND WE WILL GET A CRAPPY LAW.
