There were reports late last week that People United for Medical Marijuana in Florida received some large additions to their team. Well known Florida personal injury attorney John Morgan and political strategist Ben Pollara are now helping lead the campaign, and from what media outlets state, they have a lot of experience with fundraising. Add that to the great work that has already been going on in Florida by People United for Medical Marijuana, Robert Platshorn, and Irv Rosenfeld and I think big things are in the future for Florida medical marijuana.
Florida is a tough state for initiatives due to the district signature gathering requirements, but it’s still a worthwhile endeavor. Florida has S.B. 1250, The Cathy Jordan Medical Cannabis Act, introduced by state Sen. Jeff Clemens, D-Lake Worth, and H.B. 1130, the Medical Marijuana Act, introduced by state Rep. Katie Edwards, D-Sunrise. Also, signatures and donations are being gathered for an initiative found here, please do your part!
