We still need committee assignments for the decriminalization (HB 512) and medical marijuana (HB 688) bills. However, according to several supporters who made calls, the speaker’s office indicated that Speaker Jones intends to assign the bills at some point, probably by the end of the month.

That is somewhat encouraging, but I believe he needs to know that this issue will not go away. That is why I recommend that if you have not yet called the Speaker, please do so now by dialing 573-751-0562. Be sure to call between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. and, if you are likely to remember, you should call on Monday. Legislative staff is usually still around on Friday, but the legislators themselves go back to their home districts on Thursday evening.

This is especially important if you are one of Speaker Jones’ constituents, as he will take calls from within his district far more seriously. Consequently, if you know anyone who lives in western Saint Louis County or northeastern Franklin County in cities such as Eureka, Pacific, and Wildwood, please ask them to call the speaker and express their support for public hearings on these issues. If that person is unsure who his representative is, this page will clarify matters.

If you have already called and urged your friends to do the same, you can also support the cause by making an investment in Show-Me Cannabis now!
