The medical marijuana votes have been tallied in the Missouri town of Cottleville, and the results are not favorable. Both proposals were defeated by 9 votes (keep in mind, they were not legally binding proposals; they were simply symbolic).
Proposition C asked town voters if they would support medical marijuana legislation currently working its way through the Missouri Legislature (HB 1670):
The vote totals:
No – 199
Yes – 190
Proposition V asked town voters if they wanted to put HB 1670 on the November ballot:
The vote totals:
No – 199
Yes – 190
When asked how he felt about the defeat, the mayor hinted that this is not the end of the medical marijuana conversation in Missouri. “Getting the law passed is a process and this is just one step along the way,” said Cottleville Mayor Don Yarber, who requested the vote. Mayor Yarber will be a guest speaker at Missouri NORML’s Spring Conference this Saturday.
