Demand That Congress Investigate The DEA Now!

August 9, 2013

dea spying congress investigateWith news earlier this week that the DEA has been illegally spying on people for the purpose of drug investigations, it is important to demand change. Our friends at the Drug Policy Alliance have created a page to do just that. Below is their message, followed by a direct message that can be sent to Congress by going to the page here - there is an option to personalize your message:

The DEA is spying, lying and using the war on drugs to trample the rights of Americans. Now we have an opportunity to change it. DPA is pressuring Congress to immediately investigate this scandal — and we need your help to make them act. Take action today!”

Hold Hearings on the DEA

Dear [Decision Maker],

I urge you to call for hearings on the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and U.S. drug policy. According to a recent Reuters investigation, the DEA is collaborating with the National Security Agency (NSA), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and other agencies to spy on American citizens in the name of the war on drugs. Moreover, the DEA is actively urging local, state and federal law enforcement officers to create fake investigative trails to disguise where the information originated, a scheme that prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges and others argue robs Americans of their right to a fair trial. Hundreds or thousands of cases could be affected.
