This last Saturday dozens of activists from the Portland, Oregon metro area and beyond met for the first ever Portland NORML chapter membership meeting. Activism legends like Anthony Johnson, Shaun McAlister, and Russ Belville gave speeches and made presentations. Jay Smoker from TWB was in attendance and told me that everyone was very excited to be a part of the new chapter. I wasn’t able to attend because I had a prior appointment doing something extra lame (filing for taxes, joy).
This new chapter of NORML is going to be vital to influencing the marijuana legalization implementation process in Oregon. Portland is the largest city and marketplace in the State of Oregon by far. I’m glad to see such talented, hardworking people fighting to help ensure that the new law is implemented in a fair, logical way.
