Oakland, Calif. – On March 21, the world’s premier financial magazine, Fortune, published an inside look at the accelerated pace at which the cannabis industry is attracting investors to one of the country’s fastest emerging industries—cannabis (marijuana). This January, Fortune‘s senior legal analyst/reporter Roger Parloff traveled to Seattle, Washington, where he was given exclusive access to The ArcView Group‘s Angel Investor Network Meeting, which pairs accredited investors with vetted cannabis companies around the United States. Cannabis industry and movement leader, Steve DeAngelo, co-founded The ArcView Group in 2010 with fellow activist/entrepreneur, Troy Dayton. The event was attended by 35 investors, who heard pitches from 12 cannabis-related companies, and commenced with a welcome speech by Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn.
The ArcView Group is developing a responsible, respected, profitable, and politically engaged, legal cannabis industry. In addition to the Angel Investor Network, ArcView acts as a business incubator. Other projects developed by ArcView include Cannassure Insurance Services, See Change Research, and a soon-to-be launched crowd-funding platform, WeCanna.
Steve DeAngelo is a veteran activist and entrepreneur who’s launched several successful ventures that simultaneously advance his deeply held beliefs about cannabis. These include Harborside Health Center, the nation’s largest, model medical cannabis dispensary in Oakland, California; Steep Hill Laboratory, the nation’s first and most sophisticated cannabis-testing laboratory; and Ecolution, which for a decade was America’s premier industrial hemp company. As president of ArcView, DeAngelo provides visionary leadership and sage guidance, while co-founder Troy Dayton serves as CEO.
Steve DeAngelo is an inspired leader, who has contributed four decades of activism and advocacy to the cannabis reform movement. His vision and leadership have been featured by news teams from around the globe, including major news outlets in the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom. The media has described Steve’s landmark Harborside Health Center as a model facility that combines safe access to a wide range of lab-tested cannabis medicines, along with a full complement of free patient services, including a holistic healing clinic. DeAngelo and Harborside have also led the way in resisting the U.S. attorneys’ crackdown on regulated medical cannabis providers in California, and currently are litigating two separate lawsuits against the federal government to halt federal efforts to close medical cannabis dispensaries.
