Happy Thanksgiving From Law Enforcement Against Prohibition
By Major Neill Franklin (Ret.), Executive Director, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition
This Thanksgiving we, as drug policy reformers, have a lot to be thankful for.
With the historic moments we saw in Colorado and Washington State as marijuana was fully legalized, we ushered in a new era in the drug policy reform movement. No longer does it seem an impossibility or a distant goal to bring about full legalization and regulation. That moment is here, and the evidence is crystal clear that we can accomplish anything with commitment and support. We are at the beginning of a process that will bring a more compassionate, more rational and more secure future for all of us.
While this is absolutely a time to celebrate, there is still much work to be done. We have won an incredible battle, but we’re in it to win the war. We cannot settle for sustaining the momentum we have created. We must accelerate that momentum and to do that we need your help.
Together, we will win. It will take time, and it will certainly take an unrelenting commitment from all of us, but we will persevere and we will win.
With that profound commitment and dedication to legalization in mind, we need your help in raising $25,000 over the holiday weekend. This may sound like a lofty goal, but small goals equate to small achievements. Here at LEAP, we do nothing small and we know you expect nothing less. Will you show your dedication to legalization by making a contribution now? Every dollar goes a long way in helping us meet our objective of bringing an end to the most disastrous public policy since slavery.
For a contribution of $100 or more, you will receive a limited edition LEAP commemorative Challenge Coin, our way of giving thanks to our supporters. Without your help, it would be impossible for us to do what we do.
From all of us at LEAP, have a wonderful and safe holiday. There is, truly, so much to be thankful for and even more to look forward to in the days come.
Happy Thanksgiving!
