Summer is upon us, and there will be many activities coming up for SMC supporters to join together in Kansas City!
Firstly and most importantly, Show-Me Cannabis, along with MO NORML, will be hosting a conference in Kansas City on Saturday, June 27, at EventPort, located at 208 W 19th St. in the Crossroads Arts District near downtown. The focus of this year’s conference will be on medical cannabis, and our featured keynote speaker is Mary Lynn Mathre, RN, MSN, CARN, who is the President and Co-founder of Patients Out of Time. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by an evening social event and fundraiser. Cost of the conference is $10 standard admission, $5 for students and seniors, and free for persons with disabilities. Be sure to join the Facebook event and invite your friends!
In advance of our conference, Show-Me Cannabis will be hosting an intimate meet-and-greet to support the 2016 legalization effort with board members and special guests at the Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange, located at 1924 Main St, Kansas City. The event will take place Friday, June 26, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., and the suggested ticket price is $100. Please contact [email protected] for more details or to RSVP.
For those of you who are business-minded, the Marijuana Business Academyof Colorado Springs, CO, is making a stop in KC at the Uptown theater, located at 3700 Broadway on Friday, June 4. Although this is not a Show-Me Cannabis event, the daylong business seminar and expo will feature our own John Payne as the keynote speaker and SMC will host a booth. Colorado professionals K.C. Stark and Charles T. Houghton will touch on various marijuana business models and emerging market interests. The event also includes a hemp fashion show followed by comedy in the evening. Tickets are $199, but Show-Me Cannabis supporters can get a 2-for-1 special. For more information contact Rick Concepcion at 719-930-1648.
Finally, this summer will provide many opportunities to table at shows and festivals, which will be especially important once we kick off our signature drive. If you know of a great place we could have a free spot and you are willing to volunteer, let me know! Currently, we have been invited to table at several shows at Crossroads KC at Grinders, but we need good folks on the ground to help out! If you are willing and able to assist any of the following dates, please send an email to me ([email protected]) and I will start filling in the volunteer spots: June 5, 6, 13, 16, 27, and 30; July 6, 7, 15, and 24; August 22 and 28; and September 12.
