Toledo Hemp Center LLC is once again gathering blankets for it’s 2nd Annual Blanket Drive for the Homeless campaign to help raise awareness of the area’s growing homeless issue in the upcoming winter months.
The collection started October 15 and will continue until the planned drop off date of Tuesday, November 17. “That happens to be the date of the Center’s two year anniversary,” said Toledo native and Toledo Hemp Center CEO Kevin Spitler. The collection will be donated to the Lifebridge Center 3342 Monroe Street, Toledo, OH 43606.
The local Stop n’ Lock Storage located at 5544 Jackman Rd has stepped up as a secondary drop off point. Stop n’ Lock also has stepped up and donated a storage unit for the blankets during the event.
The collection was orchestrated by local compassionate people, Spitler said. “This collection should keep the people forced to be on the streets warm during the upcoming winter months, as well as help to bring awareness to the issue of Toledo’s homeless people.”
Toledo Hemp Center’s mission is to provide industrial hemp products for nutritional and dietary supplemental needs. Hemp can help restore wellness and maintain a healthier way of living by providing the building blocks necessary for the body to achieve a homeostatic state.
Mr. Spitler has made a long career out of helping others. Twice a year Spitler puts together a community cookout which provides free food to local residents in an effort to raise awareness of Toledo’s hungry among children. While in Michigan, Spitler was involved in Habitat for Humanity as well as the Boys and Girls Clubs and his business collected and donated over 6 tons (12,000 lbs) of food to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. His non-profit lead their region in soliciting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, for which Spitler was invited onto the MDA telethon “Show of Strength”.
Spitler partnered up with his younger brother Tim in opening Toledo Hemp Center. Together they issued this reminder:
