Las Vegas has a Marijuana Drive-Thru
LAS VEGAS — People will now be able to buy weed as quickly as a Big Mac in Las Vegas, Nevada now that the city has opened its first drive-thru marijuana dispensary. The unique marijuana dispensary is the first weed drive-thru in the United States and will be open 7 days per week.
The Nuwu Cannabis Marketplace is owned the by the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe and is located downtown on tribal lands. The dispensary opened last Friday and will try to provide quick service in one minute or less for customers who are disabled or elderly and have trouble getting in and out of their cars.
Orders can be place online before customers arrive, speeding up the process and making things more convenient for patients and consumers. Adults 21 and over can legally purchase marijuana in Nevada and can possess up to one ounce of weed provided they have a driver’s license or a government-issued identification card.
The drive-thru used to be a $30,000 bank teller window that was sent from Washington state. The window has bullet-proof glass and is equipped with two surveillance cameras.
The dispensary is almost 16,000-square-feet and serves approximately 300 automobiles at its drive-thru window on a daily basis. Recreational weed has been legal in Nevada since July and Nuwu is the only dispensary with a drive-thru window. There is another dispensary in Sun City, Arizona with a drive-thru window but it only caters to medical marijuana customers.
The chairman of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe Benny Tso said that “We want all customers to have that same experience of being able to get in and get out. It’s about speed and convenience.” The Nuwu Cannabis Marketplace offers marijuana flowers, edibles, concentrates, topicals and vaporizers. Cascade Strategic Investments is a partner with Nuwu and the President Kevin Clock says that the Sin City drive-thru dispensary is one of a kind.
