For a second year in a row, the High Times people will be bringing their Cannabis Cup to the Flint area for a two-day expo on August 22-23. The buzz surrounding the marijuana community’s biggest party has inspired events as far away as Detroit- including two gatherings that put compassion into the Cup hysteria by donating a piece of the proceeds to charities.
The Cup is a two-day expo featuring vendors, speakers, entertainment and activists supporting cannabis culture and Michigan’s marijuana users. The 2014 event was a huge success; organizers are convinced this year’s event will be even bigger and better.
The event is in Clio, Michigan at the Auto City Speedway. Tickets for the High Times Cannabis Cup event can be purchased at:

Two parties on Friday evening in Flint, and one in Detroit, will kick the weekend off in the right way while putting some green in the pockets of marijuana law reform organizations.
In Detroit, the ‘Secret Sesh’ party will benefit MILegalize! “A portion of all money raised will go to benefit the campaign to legalize marijuana in Michigan,” per the party’s Facebook page, with:
The ultimate pre-Cup event features Adam III, co-host of B-Real TV’s weed series, “The Dr. Greenthumb Show,” with special guest Tim and music from DJ Salam Wreck. B-Real is better known as the frontman for the band Cypress Hill. The ‘Secret Sessions’ is a traveling underground party; the ‘Sesh’ event will have great vendors such as Downriver Hydro and the legendary BDT head shops, a live broadcast from the Planet Green Trees Radio Show, smokey tunes, other special guests and fun people!
The Secret Sesh carries an admission fee and tickets must be paid in advance. Get tickets to the Detroit Secret Sesh by clicking HERE.
Closer to the actual Cup location, just north of Flint, the 2nd Annual Genesee County NORML event pops off on Friday evening, too. Music will be provided by Hash Bash/Monroe Street Fair veteran songsmiths Laith Al-Saadi and Chief Greenbud.
There will be celebrities and speeches, most notably from MILegalize’s Tom Lavigne. Tom is on the Board of Directors of the state’s legalization initiative and is an attorney with the Detroit law firm of Cannabis Counsel.
There is an entry fee of $4.20, with a $1 parking fee. Camping is available for a nominal cost. Part of those proceeds will go to benefit Michigan NORML.

Another area event, the 5th Annual Free Concert and Buddy’s Birthday Bash, is coordinated for a second year with the Clio Cultivation’s Pre-Cup Party. The venue is new this year- Clio Cultivation moved their store just up the street- but the event is free admission. Music includes Grateful Dead cover bands and lots of good old rock ‘n roll. Overnight camping is available.

The two Flint area events are within a few miles of each other. Attendance is expected to be strong at both events.
