Indie film’s 22,000-plus Facebook fans get engaged
With historic legalization votes in Colorado and Washington, marijuana is going mainstream. The pot trend is also blazing in pop culture: Gone To Pot The Movie has steadily built a base of more than 22,000 fans on Facebook, and is now putting its future in the hands of the people with the Nov. 9 launch of its Kickstarter campaign!
Gone To Pot is a comedy feature film from writer/director Martin Keegan about two hustlers who inherit a medical marijuana dispensary. The unorthodox, grass-roots project has steadily built a fan base through its “Why I like weed video contest” on Facebook, which collected hundreds of fan video submissions from 17 different countries.
Now the Gone To Pot team at 3 Buds Productions intends to roll that excitement into a joint effort to finance the film, by launching a $385,000 fundraiser on Kickstarter Nov. 9.
The Gone To Pot campaign will blaze for one month, and will include incentives to participate such as Gone To Pot T-shirts, posters–even original artist’s storyboards and walk-on parts in the film.
Fans who get in on the movie early will get some extra love — the first 500 people who donate $4.20 will have their names mentioned in the thank-you credits.
