Arkansas Secretary Of State Confirms Signatures Turned In For Medical Marijuana Initiative
Well everyone, congratulations, we cleared our first major hurdle yesterday! Mark Martin, the Secretary of State, confirmed that we turned in 65,413 raw signatures–enough to surpass our initial goal.
All of you on the ground collecting signatures, at home sending money, and on the web getting the message out–this is your victory, and the sick & suffering patients of Arkansas are forever in your debt.
The Validation Process Begins
The Secretary of State’s office is in the process of validating the signatures, and we expect to hear from them in the next few weeks. In a typical petition effort, as many as a third of submitted signatures are thrown out. To make sure that sick & dying Arkansans get the medicine they need we must prepare for the worst; up to half the 65,000 signatures we turned in could be deemed invalid.
Sign the Petition
If you haven’t signed the petition yet, NOW is the time! We have locati ons and volunteers across the state. You can find places to sign on our website or text (501) 420-4221 for assistance in locating a local volunteer. Bring a buddy to sign with you!
Keep Collecting Signatures
While the SOS office validates our initial petitions, we&r squo;re allowed to keep collecting signatures–PLUS, we have an additional 30 days after they announce our valid signature count. That gives us approximately 40 more days to collect another 30,000 signatures and ensure that we make the ballot.
Make History & Earn Money
Sign up to collect signatures today and we’ll pay you $1.50 for each valid signature, along with bonuses! Collecting signatures is a rewarding way to meet the people of Arkansas and hear first-hand how much an Arkansas Medical Marijuana program means. Spread the word
We are excited to have come this far, but our work is far from over. Public support for our cause has been tremendous–with positive news reports in print and on radio, our message is reaching far and wide. We’ve had people sign the petition from all 75 counties in Arkansas.
If you support our cause, then you likely have friends and family who do, too. Share the news with them and help ensure that Arkansas patients receive compassionate care. Encourage your friends to LIKE us on Facebook or FOLLOW us on Twitter and support us on +Google, and above all–keep collecting signatures. We must make the most of the next 40 days to ensure this initiative makes the November Presidential ballot!
First in the South!
With your help, we will make the ballot, and with polls showing that 70% of Arkansans support medical marijuana–we have a real chance of being the first state in the South to have a compassionate medical marijuana program.
Let’s get out there and make history!
