Arkansas medical marijuanaI came across the following press release, in case you are in the area:

What & Why:
Arkansas veterans are rallying to raise local awareness of PTSD and a medicine they think can help—medical cannabis. Nationwide, 22 veterans take their own lives every day due to PTSD. Medical cannabis can help relieve the anxiety of the disorder and it is an effective pain-reliever, often removing the need for patients to take more dangerous opiate-based pain medicines.

Where:
Arkansas State Capitol Building
500 Woodlane St. • Little Rock, Arkansas

When:
Saturday, May 23 • 10-11am

Who:

  • Melissa Fults, Campaign Director, Arkansans for Compassionate Care
  • Tina Dykema, Marine Corps Veteran & Environmental Consultant (Retired)
  • (Vets will be taking the podium to tell their story, discuss PTSD and the problem with todays treatments, as well as national reform issues pertinent to vets—such as the Veterans Equal Access.)

EXCELLENT PHOTO OPPORTUNITY!!

Arkansans for Compassionate Care
Arkansans for Compassionate Care is a coalition of concerned patients, physicians and allies who agree that sick and dying patients should have access to medical cannabis with a doctor’s recommendation. For tens of thousands of chronically-ill Arkansans, the pain and nausea relief afforded by cannabis helps them live comfortably without harmful side effects. But cannabis is currently unregulated and not legally available.

Arkansans for Compassionate Care offers a better choice: controlled access to a medicine that is proven to be both safe and effective, especially against the debilitating effects of chronic illness and harsh medical treatments.
