Cannabis Expert Steve DeAngelo Explains How The Endocannabinoid System Works

The concept of using cannabis for wellness purposes is not new, but it has been growing in popularity for quite sometime. The first time I heard someone describe it (which means it obviously existed well before that point) was when I was watching the show Weed Wars on the Discovery Channel. Andrew DeAngelo of Harborside Health Center described how not only does he use cannabis when he is suffering from various ailments, but he also uses cannabis to ‘be well.’ It took me a long time to wrap my head around that concept to be honest, even though it seems so simple.

I have always said that I use cannabis for recreational and medical purposes, and I still believe that. However, a vast majority of the time I use it for medical or ‘wellness’ purposes. I have fairly severe tendinitis in both of my hands and wrists, some very achy joints, and bad feet and ankles. For some reason I had this great idea that I was going to grow up to be invincible or something, and I’m learning the hard way each year that goes by that I probably didn’t have the best approach. So I use cannabis for aches and pains constantly. I consume it in just about every form imaginable, with some small preferences. But for the most part I’m impartial to topicals, tinctures, edibles, vapor, smoke, etc..

Then there is a lot of time that I consume cannabis for wellness purposes. Probably the best video I’ve ever seen that discusses the topic of cannabis for wellness is a video that was released today by Steve DeAngelo. Steve DeAngelo is the founder of Harborside Health Center in California, which has the distinction of the being the largest medical cannabis dispensary on the planet. There is no better subject matter expert on the topic of cannabis for wellness than Steve DeAngelo. You can watch the video I’m talking about at this link here. It’s the second mini-documentary in a three part series. To read my review of the first video that was released, click this link here.

In the video Steve talks about the overlooked wellness benefits of cannabis, and the endocannabinoid system. Steve explains that what makes up the cannabis plant also makes up part of what humans are made of. The endocannabinoid system is the largest transmitting system in your body. It’s purpose is to find homeostasis in your body and balance out what’s going on in the inside, no matter what is going on outside. It’s what helps you stay calm, and deal with outside stimulus. It’s also more than that. Cannabis can make you more creative. That is something that artists, musicians, writers, and many other creative people will be quick to tell you. Stimulating creativity is a wellness benefit to using cannabis. Steve goes on to say that cannabis can help with other wellness areas such as helping you extend your level of patience, and help you wake up with a sense of play.

Consuming cannabis can not only help stimulate your appetite (a medical benefit), but it can also heighten your senses in a way that makes the food taste better (a wellness benefit). Anyone who consumes cannabis will be very quick to tell you that cannabis makes music sound better. As Mr. DeAngelo talks about in the video interview, those are some of the best moments of your life, and cannabis makes them all better. The video is the best description of cannabis for wellness and the endocannabinoid system that I have ever heard. It’s something that everyone should see, and it’s something that should be shared with people, especially those that may be on the fence about cannabis. I have a huge list of people that I know could benefit from seeing the video. It would definitely open their eyes.
