I have a special place in my heart for marijuana reform activists in Idaho. One side of my family (maternal) is from Idaho, and I have hundreds of relatives that live there. I don't visit very often. It's not because I don't like the view. Idaho is a very beautiful state. And it's not because I don't want to see my family, because I love them all very much. It's because Idaho is a very, very scary place to be when you are a marijuana consumer. The laws there are harsh, and many law enforcement officials in Idaho absolutely love to enforce marijuana prohibition.
I won't sugarcoat it - Idaho will not be an easy place to reform marijuana laws. This is a state that once passed a law to outlaw marijuana reform efforts. That's right, Idaho somehow made marijuana even more illegal than it already was. But that's why it's so important to support reform efforts in Idaho. Even though it won't be easy to legalize medical marijuana Idaho, doesn't mean that it's impossible. Far from it actually. Idaho voters just need to be educated more about the medical benefits of marijuana, and how using medical marijuana is much safer and healthier than pharmaceuticals. That's not to say that people shouldn't be able to use pharmaceuticals too if they choose, but they should absolutely have the option to use medical marijuana if they choose.
Below is a video that was recently released by the New Approach Idaho campaign. If you live in Idaho, share it with everyone you know. And if you are a reform funder or member of a reform organization, please help out this campaign. Idaho residents need to know that this is a real issue, and activists there need to know that there are people out there that care and want to help.
