Will medical marijuana be coming to Boston and other Massachusetts cities after the 2012 election?
Earlier this week, supporters of medical marijuana in Massachusetts filed an estimated 84,000 signatures to the Massachusetts Secretary of States office. At least 68,911 signatures need to be valid in order for Massachusetts voters to get the chance to vote on the issue of medical marijuana. This proposed ‘ballot question’ as it’s called in Massachusetts would authorize the state to register up to 35 non profit medical marijuana treatment centers, and prescribe marijuana for Cancer, glaucoma, positive status for human immunodeficiency virus, acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), hepatitis C, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and other conditions as determined in writing by a qualifying patient’s physician.
As expected, there are neo-cons that are already trying to spread around propaganda to prevent medical marijuana from coming to Massachusetts. Berkshire District Attorney David F. Capeless ‘said the concept of medical marijuana is a sham. Capeless said there’s been no credible, scientific medical research that shows marijuana can be safely used for medical purposes. He said medical marijuana would create more of a demand for the drug and attract people to Massachusetts to obtain it.’ “It’s a drug people use to get high,” Capeless said of marijuana. “It makes people feel better, but there is a whole downside people don’t want to recognize.”
Yes Mr. Capeless, people use marijuana to get high. However, people also use it for medicine. There is actually quite a bit of private and public research that proves marijuana has medicinal qualities. However, you have votes to get, so you will say anything to stay in office, even if it means lying. When presented with overwhelming evidence of marijuana’s medical qualities, you will still continue to stick your head in the ground and disregard the truth. Let me ask you, do you still believe that the earth is flat Mr. Capeless??

As you already know, lying conservatives will try to get in your way like Berkshire District Attorney David F. Capeless. There is no need to be afraid of fear mongers like him; know that truth and logic are on your side! There are easily enough medical marijuana supporters in Massachusetts to get this item passed, it’s just a matter of organization and education. Get as many people as you can, and get them to inform as many people as they can.
