united for care florida amendment 2 medical marijuanaThey say that sometimes the truth hurts. That statement is currently on full display this week in Florida, where a medical marijuana opponent is having to deal with the fact that his own research organization determined that medical marijuana can help those suffering from MS. Sheldon Adelson recently donated 2.5 million dollars to a group that is fighting medical marijuana legalization in Florida. Sheldon Adelson is a long time political funder for conservative causes and candidates.

Sheldon Adelson also funds a medical research organization called the ‘Sheldon G. Adelson Medical Research Foundation.’ Unfortunately for Mr. Adelson, his research organization concluded that marijuana could help those suffering from MS. Per the Broward Palm Beach New Times:

According to the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Medical Research Foundation, a study released just last year found that CBD and THC helped ease the swelling in the spinal cord and brain in lab mice that had similar diseases to MS.

The study, published in the Journal of Neuroimmune Pharmacology, was conducted by the Tel Aviv University and Weizmann Institute of Science, which believe the results would be the same for patients with MS.

One would think that with all of Sheldon Adelson’s resources, he would have been able to hire someone to look into things before he made his sizable donation to Florida medical marijuana opponents. But then again, a smart person would have never thought about donating to Florida’s medical marijuana opposition in the first place. Marijuana is medicine. For proof of that, just ask the Sheldon G. Adleson Medical Marijuana Research Foundation.
