ohio medical cannabis associationSignatures Gathered In Ohio In 2012 For Medical Marijuana Never Expire

Dear Supporters of the OMCA,

A big THANK YOU! to all of the volunteers who helped us to collect signatures at both Pride and ComFest in Columbus the past two weekends.

Signatures are now numbering well into the thousands. Look for signature gathering events in your area or recommend one to us by e-mailing [email protected].

The burning question that everyone seems to be asking is, do we have enough signatures to meet the deadline for the fall 2012 ballot? Please understand that positioning the Ohio Medical Cannabis Amendment for the fall ballot had been our goal since we began almost two years ago. However, the reality is that, even with the thousands of petitions in circulation, simple math tells us that we fall short of the 500,000+ signatures necessary to ensure a win at the ballot box. (Sure, we know that the exact number of required signatures equals 385,247, but we need a cushion of at least one third more.)

The good news is that the signatures collected for constitutional amendments are ‘evergreen,’ in that they never expire. Once you sign the petition, your signature remains good until it is submitted.

It is important to note that getting the Amendment to the ballot represents only one part of our strategy.

The Ohio Medical Cannabis Amendment was written to give you a voice and a very powerful platform on which to deliver an important message:

We, as medical cannabis patients, have the right to use this safe and effective medication.

Please join our cause to not only pass the Amendment, but to also Stand Up For Our Rights!

Help us bring a bright future to the cannabis plant and patients in Ohio.

Once again, many thanks for your help and patience.

The OMCA Team
