The City of San Leandro in California voted to license and permit one medical cannabis dispensary in 2013. After a very lengthy review process, during which there were 15 applicants, San Leandro made its decision. The permit was awarded to Harborside Health Center. Below is more information, via a press release:
Last week, San Leandro city staff outlined a report recommending that the dispensary permit be awarded to Harborside San Leandro, stating: “Harborside stood out among all of the applications because of its outstanding reputation and demonstrated experience. Having opened its doors nearly 9 years ago… Harborside Oakland quickly rose to prominence pioneering the development of methods and practices… that are considered among the best in the burgeoning medical cannabis industry.”
“We’re very humbled and appreciative of the city staff of San Leandro,” said Steve DeAngelo, co-founder and executive director of Harborside Health Center. “We’re honored to be awarded the license, and look forward to introducing regulated cannabis to a previously unserved community.”
This is good news for safe access for patients in the San Leandro area. Harborside Health Center’s first location has grown to be the largest medical cannabis dispensary on the planet, serving over 200,000 patients, and for good reason. Patients like the medicine and experience that they get at Harborside. Harborside’s founder and Executive Director, Steve DeAngelo, has released two mini-documentaries recently. The first one can be viewed at this link, and tells the untold story of how Harborside came into existence. The second video deals with using cannabis for wellness purposes, and the benefits that go with it, and can be viewed at this link here. I suggest you watch them both.
