Will The Los Angeles City Council Respect The Will Of The Voters If They Vote To Overturn Dispensary Ban?
Los Angeles medical marijuana patients have been put through the hurdles a lot the last few years, and it looks like the fight is far from over. Below is a great article from the legendary Erik Altieri explaining the next phase of the fight, and a video from a protest a handful of weeks ago.
The video isn’t directly related to the LA ban, but I hope serves as an encouraging reminder that we need to hit the streets against the ban the same way we do against raids! I feel that the LA City Council needs to see not only votes on Election Day against the ban, but constant protest to let them know that they better respect the vote should it come back the way I expect.

The LA City Clerk announced that a referendum to overturn the recent Los Angeles City Council medical marijuana dispensary ban has qualified for the ballot.
Organizers had previously submitted signatures to the city and were informed yesterday that they surpassed the 27,425 valid signatures required to qualify. There are now three possible outcomes for this effort: the LA City Council could choose to overturn the dispensary ban on their own, call for a special election on the issue, or place the referendum on the ballot for the March mayoral election.
The enforcement of the ban on medical cannabis dispensaries will remain suspended until the referendum is resolved. NORML will keep you updated as the situation progresses.
