The Dorito Taco From Taco Bell
This will be the first of a new series of articles that I will be doing at The Weed Blog. This series was actually inspired by a different Taco Bell item, the Beefy Crunch Burrito, but in true stoner fashion I forgot to write the article. Now the Beefy Crunch Burrito is no longer available in my area. However, there’s a new late night marijuana munchie food that is being offered by Taco Bell. I apologize ahead of time to people that are vegetarians, or just don’t fast food for a number of reasons. When it comes to food, I’m a total stoner, so fast food is a staple in my life for better or worse. I’m well aware of the ramifications of such a decision, and I promise to someday eat healthier :)
Now that the public service announcement is out of the way, I would like to talk about the Taco Bell Doritos Locos Tacos, or as they are more commonly known in my social circles, the Dorito Taco. For those of you that were fortunate enough to avoid the media blitz and don’t know what a Dorito Taco is, here is a brief description from Taco Bell: “A Taco Supreme® made with premium seasoned beef, crisp lettuce, diced juicy red ripe tomatoes, real cheddar cheese, topped with cool reduced-fat sour cream, in a shell made from Nacho Cheese Doritos® Chips.”
When I first heard that the Dorito Taco was coming out, I was stoked. I love tacos already, and Doritos, so making a taco shell out of Doritos seemed like a stellar idea to me. When I actually ate the taco, it wasn’t much different than any other taco I’ve had from Taco Bell. The thing that I was actually impressed with was the holder for the taco itself. As you can see from the picture, each taco has a holder that you can slide the taco in and out of to minimize spillage. Why aren’t these mandatory on all tacos? Do you have any idea how much taco ‘duff’ I’ve lost over the years?! Lol.
The only real knock that I have on the Dorito Taco from Taco Bell is the price. It’s $1.29 in my area, which is not the most marijuana munchie friendly price. With Del Taco and Jack in the Box pushing tacos in my area 2 for 99 cents, I’ll probably just continue to go those routes. What do TWB readers think? Have you tried the Dorito Taco? I look forward to reading your comments below.
