Americans for Safe Access (ASA) filed briefs with the US Appellate Court in Washington, DC, today asking for a new hearing on our rescheduling lawsuit and a review by the full nine-judge panel. This is the latest offensive in our ten-year old campaign to have medical cannabis removed from the list of dangerous drugs with no accepted medical use. The review could reverse the court’s earlier decision to deny our rescheduling petition, or it could lead to a show down in the US Supreme Court! If we win, clinical research can move forward and the day that medical cannabis is 100% legal for everyone who needs it will be much closer!
Fighting for medical cannabis in federal court is a long and expensive struggle. ASA needs your help to keep moving forward and to finally prevail. The budget for our federal legal campaign, which includes two important lawsuits, will be well over $300,000. That includes briefs, hearings, soliciting amicus briefs, research, press, and more. A small group of dedicated ASA members comprise our Legal Support Team. Team members pledge at least $100 each month for eighteen months to help us win.
