How to Help Legalize Marijuana in California

You are probably sitting at home reading this, while enjoying some recreational cannabis use, and thinking to yourself ‘how can I help get marijuana legalized.’ It is much easier than you might think. When I was in college, I read a famous political science quote, ‘the most important thing in politics is money, and the second most important thing is also money.’ Cash buys ad time on TV, the radio, in major news publications, etc. The more campaign money you have, the easier it is to get the word out, and therefore, the chances of winning at election time are higher; it’s that simple.

So help support the cause by making a small donation. The Obama campaign raised more money than any other campaign in US history by receiving millions of small donations. The California Control & Tax Cannabis Act could to the same thing if people stepped up and donated! People outside of California should also consider donating, because if California votes ‘yes’ to legalize marijuana, then it would increase the momentum of legalizing marijuana in other states. Here is an e-mail that I received from the campaign that explains how to get involved:

Dear Friend,

I’ve been an activist for over twenty years, and let me tell you something: This year feels different. This year feels special. That’s because 2010 is the year we finally legalize, control, and tax cannabis in California.

But it won’t happen by itself. We need you to step up.

That’s why, today, I’m asking you to set up a fundraising page and raise $100 or more by April 20 for the Control & Tax Cannabis 2010 campaign.

It’s easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Click here to get started.
  2. Set up your own personal fundraising page.
  3. Invite your friends to give $5, $25, or whatever they can afford.

So what are you waiting for?

Click here to create your personal fundraising page — and reach your $100 goal!

Just imagine: If 420 people step up to the plate and reach their $100 goal, we will raise $42,000 by April 20. That will go a long way toward educating prospective voters and winning on November 2.

Setting up a personal fundraising page and informing your friends will only take a minute — but your impact will truly make a difference.

Thank you so much for your support. I know I can count on you to reach your goal — and that together, we’ll raise $42,000 by April 20.

Sincerely,

Richard Lee

P.S. If you’re ready to go the extra mile, supporters will also be hosting house parties all across the country on April 20. Click the following link to sign up to host a house party: https://www.taxcannabis.org/houseparty
