Rob Kampia, Executive Director, Marijuana Policy Project

The forces of prohibition are punishing the campaign to regulate marijuana like alcohol in Colorado.

The opposition committee just released its latest campaign finance report, and it tells an ugly tale: They spent precisely $250,000 on radio ads in just five days, and they have $103,000 more to spend on additional radio ads.

Publicly available polls show that our initiative is still ahead, which is wonderful. But our private polling — which is much more extensive and nuanced — shows that public support is steadily eroding in Boulder and Fort Collins. Boulder!

And, no surprise, this is where the opposition is running their pair of radio ads that feature the three most recent governors of Colorado.

We’re not showing any slippage in Colorado Springs or the western slope of the Rockies. To put it another way, we’re doing fine where we have a clear advertising advantage.

This campaign is ours to lose.

Unfortunately, of the 95,553 people on the MPP email list, 93,430 people have not donated to MPP or the Colorado campaign this year. This is a 97.8% non-participation rate.

If you donate today, the campaign will use your donation to run this new TV ad, which features an Iraq War veteran who needs to use marijuana to treat his post-traumatic stress disorder.

If everyone on the email list were to donate $25, this would generate nearly $2.5 million, which would allow us to crush the opposition with an iron fist on November 6.

Of course, you can’t control what 95,553 people do, but you can control whether you donate $25 or more today.

If donating $25 or $100 or $1,000 would not negatively impact your lifestyle, would you please donate today?

If you, the entire campaign structure, the MPP staff, and I succeed on November 6, Colorado would become the first place in the world where marijuana is regulated like alcohol. I want to thank you in advance for anything you can do to help.
