The growing cannabis industry in Colorado is a success by every measure. Tax revenues continue to climb. Much needed jobs are being created in the industry every month. Crime is down. Traffic fatalities are down. Teen use is down.
Local economies are benefiting too. Hotels benefit from the added tourism. Local stores are benefiting from the income that is received and spent from workers in the growing cannabis industry. It sounds like even NFL quarterback Peyton Manning's Colorado pizza restaurants are benefiting. In a recent interview, Peyton Manning stated the following:
There's some different laws out here in Colorado. Pizza business is pretty good out here, believe it or not, due to some recent law changes. So when you come to a different place, you've kind of got to learn everything that comes with it.
I think the comments were more than tongue-in-cheek. I'm sure Mr. Manning's pizza stores are selling more pizzas, just as the local electrician is seeing more work from an economy that is seeing improvement due to the growing cannabis industry. Opponents are having a harder and harder time making the case that legalization is a bad thing for society as Colorado continues to succeed. It's time every state took this approach to their cannabis laws.
