Ted Wheeler is running for Mayor of Portland. Ted Wheeler is also serving currently as Oregon’s State Treasurer. So when I see him meeting with the Oregon cannabis industry community on a regular basis, I think it’s a big deal for Portland, for Oregon, and especially for the cannabis industry. From what I have heard so far, Ted Wheeler is very big on banking reforms for the marijuana industry, which considering his current title, is a very big endorsement for cannabis industry banking reforms.

Ted Wheeler is participating in social with some of Oregon’s leading cannabis industry members. The event is being held on a workday, so I’m not sure if I can make it or not since I work a couple of hours south of Portland and don’t get off work until 5 p.m. (the event starts at 7 p.m., so it would be cutting it close). However, if you are able to make it, this is going to be a fantastic thing to be a part of. Ted Wheeler has an outstanding chance of becoming the next Mayor of Oregon’s largest city, so chatting with him now and letting him know your concerns would be a great idea. Below is more information about the event, via Facebook:

Join State Treasurer and Portland Mayoral Candidate Ted Wheeler for an intimate meeting and stimulating discussion of Oregon’s rapidly growing cannabis industry!

We will be discussing regulations, growth, and the immediate need for banking reform within the industry. Treasurer Wheeler will be discussing the progress we’ve made in the last year, the challenges we still face, and invites you to add your voice to the conversation.

At a recent cannabis round table event, he said:

“It’s obviously time to start paying the industry the respect it deserves, just as we should any regulated industry out there, especially one that makes such a huge impact on our economy. Requiring this industry to deal in high volume cash is not upholding the promise we made to Oregon’s citizens when they voted to legalize this industry.”

We couldn’t agree more, and that’s why we’re doing everything we can to help Ted get elected.

There will be complimentary beer and wine. We hope you’ll join us!

Single Admission – $25
Couples Admission – $40
