There are a lot of people out there that compare the rise of the cannabis industry with the dot com boom. The dot com boom was very exciting, new, and generating a ton of revenue during its prime, so the comparison is a logical one. And just like the dot com boom, there is a ton of investment money flooding into the rising marijuana industry. I get e-mails all the time asking how to get their ideas funded and if I can point them in the right direction. Admittedly, I’m not the best resource on that since I’m still figuring out how all of that works myself, but I always tell people to do what I do – go to reputable events to learn and network.
An event that I’m going to next month is the Cannabis Growth Capital Conference November 10-11 in Las Vegas at the Westgate Convention Center. The event is one of a series of events put on by the people behind the Marijuana Investment Summit. There are a lot of marijuana business events out there that cover a large variety of topics, but don’t go that deep into those topics. I’m choosing to attend this event because the speakers and panels are going to go beyond the general overviews of the cannabis industry. I know all about how exciting this new industry is, and what the sectors are, etc. I want to roll up my sleeves and get to work, and I think this event is going to be a great place to learn how to do exactly that.
I don’t go to too many industry events, especially when it requires me to travel away from home and my family, so when I do, I make sure it’s to an event that I feel is going to be worth it. The Cannabis Growth Capital Conference is one of those events. I know a lot about cannabis, but I don’t know nearly as much about how to run a business. I’m hopeful that by the end of this event I’ll have a better idea of what a strong business framework looks like, what the capital raising process entails, and a number of other things.
There’s going to be a strong emphasis on the investor side of the equation, which means that there’s going to be a lot of deep pockets at the event with investing on their minds, which would be a great place to be if you are looking to meet someone like that.
