I am a very big fan of the show Jeopardy!, which of course is hosted by Alex Trebek. My great grandparents got me hooked on the show a long time ago when I was just a little kid. I think we have all seen the show at one time or another, and tried to show how smart we were by seeing if we could get the answers right. My great grandparents were very much products of their generation, and did not support sensible marijuana laws. So I was quite pleased when I saw that Alex Trebek admitted to using marijuana, and from what it sounds like, had quite the experience. Per High Times:
Alex Trebek went on Howard Stern’s radio show for the first time ever this week and ended up discussing his few dalliances with drugs.
The Jeopardy! host explained that he had tried smoking marijuana to help with arthritis in his shoulder, but it didn’t work for him, so he quit. He also admitted to trying cocaine once with his accountant.
But the best story he told involved accidentally eating some hash brownies.
“I went to this party at a home in Malibu and I didn’t know the people who were hosting the party and they had hash brownies,” Trebek said. ”I love chocolate, and I ate four or five hash brownies. The party was on a Friday night… I didn’t leave their home until Monday morning.”
From what it sounds like, Alex did not have the best experience. With that being said, his story highlights two things. Number one, no one should go from zero to hero when it comes to marijuana, especially with edibles. Consume responsibly, and know your limit, as with anything else. The second thing is that Mr. Trebek is yet another example of someone who has consumed marijuana that a lot of people wouldn’t have expected. I’d be very curious to hear what my great grandparents would have to say if they were here. Even if Alex didn’t have the best experience, he was ultimately fine, which is something that I don’t think he could say had he binged on some other legal substances that are generally accepted culturally in America.
