As Oregon becomes the third state to begin legal retail sales of marijuana, U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) will join Oregon-based members of the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) and NCIA executive director Aaron Smith for a reception and federal policy update in Portland on October 14.
Rep. Blumenauer and Smith will discuss recent cannabis policy developments on the federal front, including congressional legislation that would address the issues of banking access and excess taxation that legal cannabis businesses face. Rep. Blumenauer has been a long-time champion for marijuana policy reform in Congress and was the 2013 recipient of NCIA’s Legislative Leadership Award.
Attendees will also have the opportunity network with other established cannabis business leaders, sharing advice and best practices and building relationships in Oregon’s rapidly evolving industry.
The event is complimentary for NCIA members and open to other cannabis industry professionals for a nominal donation of $40. Online registration is available at https://nciareceptionoroct2015.ezevent.com.
